OCEAN CITY, Md. – The Ocean City Police Department has charged a man in connection with a knifepoint robbery that occurred early Monday morning.

Officers arrested 47-year-old Troy Evans on charges of armed robbery, robbery, theft under $100, first and second degree assault, and reckless endangerment. He was arraigned and is being held at the Worcester County Jail without bond.

Around 1:47 a.m. on Aug. 17, officers responded to a motel near 71st Street for a reported armed robbery. The victim, a motel employee, reported that a suspect entered the front lobby, pointed a knife at him, and demanded money before leaving and traveling northbound on Coastal Highway. The victim provided officers with a description of the suspect.

Officers with the OCPD’s Arrest & Detection Section reviewed the description and determined that it matched the description of Evans. Officers also learned that he had been released from the Public Safety Building approximately four hours earlier after being arrested and released on his personal recognizance for an open-container violation in the area of 44th Street.

Officers canvassed the area and located Evans in the 10-block of 87th Street at 2:20 a.m., placing him under arrest. Officers located two knives and cash on Evans’ person.
