Troopers Investigate Fatal Pedestrian Crash in Laurel
LAUREL, Del. – The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred Saturday night in Laurel.
On Aug. 15, at 9:20 p.m., a Toyota Camry was traveling southbound, in the right lane of Sussex Highway, approaching Oasis Drive. At the same time, a pedestrian was walking westbound, in the right lane of southbound Sussex Highway when he was struck by the Toyota.
The pedestrian, identified 41-year-old Richard Housel of Laurel, was taken to an area hospital where he later died.
The driver of the Toyota, a 21-year-old man, also from Laurel, was not injured.
The roadway was closed for approximately three hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
