New Transitional Home for Unhoused Women Opens in Dover

DOVER, Del. – Non-profit Central Delaware Housing Collaborative (CDHC) is celebrating after cutting the ribbon on their newest transitional home in Dover on Wednesday morning.

The home, called House of Hope, serves as a place of respite for previously homeless women in the Kent County community. The property, located at 731 West Division Street, includes a new four-bedroom/two-bath home, a pole barn, and the House of Hope shelter.

Women seeking help at the shelter can expect person-centered trauma-informed case management, safe emergency shelter at the House of Hope, and assistance in securing transitional housing.

State Senator Trey Paradee (D-District 17) and Karen Speakman, CEO for NeighborGood Partners, both shared their words of support and praise for the new home at Wednesday’s ribbon cutting. House of Hope Director Stefi Myers says this site is just the beginning of new transitional homes coming to mid-Delaware.

“We plan to continue to open more transitional homes in the community with another one being built now with a finish date just a couple of months away. We have networked with other agencies to help their clients with extra items we may have available, such as food, clothes, hygiene products…” Myers said. “We are so excited about this beautiful new home and can’t wait for the next one to open!”
