Delaware State Police Accepting Applications for Citizens Police Academy

LEWES, Del. – The Delaware State Police is now accepting applications for the 2026 DSP Citizens Police Academy.

The Academy will be held this fall in Sussex County at Delaware State Police Troop 7.

It will begin on Wednesday, September 16 and continue until November 11.

Participants are expected to explore a wide array of police activities, including classroom lessons on evidence processing, criminal and traffic investigations, tours of DSP facilities and more.

People who take part in the Citizens Police Academy will also get the chance to ride along with patrol troopers.

There’s a limit of 20 participants, so if your interested you can fill out an application on the Citizens Police Academy section of the Delaware State Police’s website.
