Fruitland Police Department to Unveil New Drones

FRUITLAND, Md.– The Fruitland Police Department will debut it’s new drone program during the city’s National Night Out event, giving residents an up-close look at how technology is being used to enhance public safety.

Department officials say the demonstration is designed to show how drones can quickly provide aerial views during emergencies, allowing first responders to assess situations faster and make more informed decisions. The department also hopes the demonstration will give the public a better understanding of how the drones are operated and the safeguards in place to protect privacy.

“Our whole goal is transparency, so that nobody thinks we’re doing anything nefarious with our drones,” Detective Jonathan Marton-Rollins said. “They’ll be able to see what we’re able to do with them, what they look like, how we operate them, and the policies and procedures we have in place to protect people’s rights and civil liberties. We need our community to understand that we’re doing everything we possibly can to make sure we take their privacy and security very seriously.”
