Aerial Mosquito Spraying Scheduled for Somerset, Dorchester Counties
DORCHESTER & SOMERSET COUNTIES, Md. – The Maryland Department of Agriculture has scheduled aerial mosquito spraying for parts of Dorchester and Somerset counties, starting Monday evening.
Beginning the evening of Aug. 3, a twin engine aircraft will begin spraying various areas to reduce adult mosquito populations, weather permitting. The aircraft is described as a white plane with red and blue stripes, registration number N903MD. It will fly 300 to 500 feet above the ground during the evening hours.
Residents of the affected areas are advised that the insecticide to be applied is Trumpet, a formulation containing naled and applied at less than 1.0 fluid ounce per acre. In Dorchester County approximately 14,949 acres will be treated. In Somerset County approximately 1,234 acres will be treated. Authorities say it is not necessary for people, pets or livestock to leave the area to be treated.

- Lakesville
- Robbins
- Toddville
- Wesley
- Wingate

- Ewell
- Rhodes Point
- Smith Island
- Tylerton
