15-Year-Old Airlifted Following E-Scooter Crash in Smyrna
SMYRNA, Del. – The Smyrna Police Department (SPD) is actively investigating a car crash involving an electric scooter that occurred on Thursday night.
On Jul. 30, at approximately 9:21 p.m., police say a Toyota Camry was traveling northbound on Streamside Circle within the Christina Apartments Development. At the same time, a 15-year-old male, riding an electric scooter, was traveling southbound on Streamside Circle. A preliminary investigation revealed that the scooter was struck head-on by the Toyota Camry as it was making a left-hand turn back onto Streamside Circle.
The 15-year-old male of Smyrna was flown to an area hospital, where he is currently being treated for his injuries.
The driver of the Toyota, a 23-year-old woman, also from Smyrna, was not injured.
