17-Year-Old Shot in Face, Foot in Cambridge; Police Investigating

CAMBRIDGE, Md. – The Cambridge Police Department (CPD) is investigating a shooting that left a 17-year-old with gunshots wounds to the face and foot in the early hours of Saturday morning.

At 12:49 a.m. on Jul. 25, officers received a ShotSpotter alert in the 400 block of Willis Street. As officers responded, they learned a 17-year-old male had arrived at a local emergency room with a gunshot wound to the facial area and the foot. He was later flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma due to his injuries, and has since been released.

A preliminary investigation has revealed that the victim was sitting in the front passenger seat of a vehicle on Willis Street when a large group of what police say is believed to be juveniles, approached the vehicle. One of the subjects had a handgun and proceeded to discharge two rounds at the victim in the vehicle striking him.

Detectives believe this incident stems from a disagreement with both parties, and maintains there is no threat to the public at this time. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the CPD’s Detective division at 410-228-3333.
