Child airlifted following water rescue in Bethany Beach

BETHANY BEACH, Del. – A child was airlifted following a water rescue in Bethany Beach.

The Bethany Beach Fire Company said around 4:25 p.m. Wednesday it was dispatched to the 30000 block of Harpoon Road for a reported traumatic injury.

While crews were responding, the emergency operations center was informed the patient remained in the water, upgrading the incident to a water rescue response.

The child was eventually removed from the water and was stabilized.

The child was then taken by ChristianaCare LifeNet helicopter to a specialty care center for further evaluation and treatment.
