One Critically Injured after Early Morning Housefire in Ocean View
OCEAN VIEW, Del. – The Delaware State Fire Marshal is investigating an early morning house fire in Ocean View that sent three to the hospital on Tuesday.
Around 5:00 a.m. on Jul. 21, crews with the Bethany Beach and Millville Volunteer Fire Companies responded to a residential structure fire in the 100 block of West Avenue. Initial reports indicated that multiple occupants were trapped inside the home.
Upon arrival, crews viewed fire emerging from the front and side windows of the one-story residence. Firefighters immediately initiated an aggressive fire attack while conducting primary searches of the residence. Crews worked quickly to bring the fire under control, and primary searches confirmed that all occupants had safely exited the structure.
Following suppression efforts, firefighters remained on scene for an extended period conducting overhaul operations to locate and extinguish hidden fire. Crews encountered significant hoarding conditions throughout the residence, creating additional challenges during firefighting operations.
The total damage to the house and its contents is estimated to be valued at $150,000.
Delaware Deputy State Fire Marshals responded to the scene to conduct an origin and cause investigation, which remains ongoing.
