Woman Arrested for $15 Robbery, Altercation at Dover Wendy’s
DOVER, Del. – An Ellendale woman has been arrested after police say she returned to the scene of a robbery after leaving her AirPod headphone behind.
The Dover Police Department has arrested 33-year-old Shadaira Harris on charges of strong-arm robbery, third degree burglary, second degree conspiracy, terroristic threatening, and offensive touching. She has since been arraigned and committed to the Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on a $29,000 secured bond.
On Jul. 19, at approximately 9:09 p.m., officers responded to the Wendy’s located on South DuPont Highway in Dover for a reported robbery. The investigation revealed that an adult female, later identified as Harris, and a juvenile male had purchased food before requesting a cash refund because they were dissatisfied with their order. When employees advised that a refund could not be processed at the restaurant and that they would need to contact management, police say Harris became agitated.
Employees reported that Harris then went behind the service counter, entered an employee-only area, and removed approximately $15 from a cash register. During the incident, police say she assaulted a female employee by punching her multiple times in the chest when the employee attempted to prevent the theft. The cash was thrown out the drive-thru window, where it was collected by the juvenile.
During the incident, the juvenile male also entered the restaurant, and both suspects made threats to shoot employees before fleeing the area.
While officers were investigating, Harris returned to the restaurant to retrieve an AirPod she had left behind during the altercation. She was taken into custody without incident.
