Wicomico Jury Convicts Dagsboro Man of Sexually Abusing Minor
WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – A Dagsboro man has been convicted of multiple offenses related to the sexual abuse of a minor in his household.
On Jul. 15, a Wicomico County jury convicted 48-year-old George Harry of two counts of sexual abuse of a minor, two counts of second degree rape, four counts of third degree sexual offense, and two counts of sexual solicitation of a minor. Harry’s sentencing has been deferred pending receipt of a mandatory pre-sentence investigation and mental health assessment. He will remain in custody pending sentencing.
Wicomico County State’s Attorney (SA) Jamie L. Dykes said the testimony from the victim in this case was an incredible display of bravery and strength that helped secure a conviction. Between 2019 and 2023, Harry sexually abused a child in his household, who was under the age of 11 years at the time.
“In this case, evidence was presented of this Defendant’s long-standing history of inflicting sexual abuse against minors,” SA Dykes said in a statement. “Because of this, along with the jury’s thoughtful and considered verdict, this Defendant has been brought to justice.”
