Milford Police Celebrate Public Safety Milestone

MILFORD, Del. – The Milford Police Department (MPD) is celebrating after reaching a public safety milestone: one full year with no reports of homicides or shooting incidents inside city limits.

Milford Police Chief Cecelia Ashe says the milestone marks the first time in over seven years that the community has gone a full year homicide and shooting free. In addition to this achievement, the department is reportedly seeing a 30 percent reduction in part 1 crimes year to date.

“This dramatic turnaround is driven by our Command Staff, whose leadership, strategic vision, and deep belief in our department’s mission have guided this agency forward,” MPD said in a message on social media. “Their blueprint has empowered the tireless, around-the-clock efforts of our entire team…”

The agency also took a moment to specifically shout out the work of their patrol and school resource officers, their communications team, and their Criminal Investigations unit.
