Town of Hurlock mural celebrates heritage

HURLOCK, Md. – After years of planning, the Town of Hurlock finally got their new mural installed right in the heart of their downtown on Sunday.

The new mural, which is located near the Mom and Pop’s Family Restaurant, was created by local artist Michael Rosato.

According to town officials, the new mural celebrates the town’s heritage, which includes trains and agriculture.

They say this new mural is a step in the right direction in their revitalization efforts and they are excited for people to enjoy this new addition in the community.

“It represents the history of Hurlock and it’s one of the steps that we’re bringing Hurlock forward into the county and bringing tourism in the upper part of Dorchester County,” said Town Manager, John Avery.

“There’s always more to the story than what you see driving through a little town,” said Rosato, “That every little town has a story and I hope that they question what the story is about Hurlock.”

Town officials say the new mural will be added to the county’s Chesapeake Country Mural Trail, which will help bring more tourists to the area.
