All Star Game 2026 in Philadelphia lived up to the billing
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The 96th iteration of the Midsummer Classic at the Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. The MLB All-Star Game and all the festivities that come with it.
From the warning tracks to the brightest lights in baseball. The stars have officially aligned in Philadelphia. They like to say, it’s always in Philadelphia, and it was a sunny break.
Starting with the HBCU Swingman Classic. The brainchild of Major League legend Ken Griffey Jr., here was the American League Manager Rickie Weeks, “You know, the thing is, baseball is not a game where you stop and improve every year, every day. You get better.”
Then came the MLB Futures competition Sunday, and one of the biggest events every year, the Home Run Derby. The hometown heroes, Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber, are featured here before the home run exhibition, marking an unforgettable moment.
“Your swing is pretty much your swing. When I get out to BP, the Philly writers will, tell you, I want to launch. That’s the only time I go out there is launch and, and feel that,” said Harper.
Kyle Schwarber explains what it feels like hitting at that level. “Probably more than, you know, 20 swings. So it’ll be better for us on our bodies. And I think it’ll be a wonderful experience for the fans.
Unfortunately for both Schwarber and Harper, it would be Jordan Walker, outfielder for the Cardinals, who took home the crown, and he also gave even more evidence on why he should get that new contract deal.
The grand finale was marked by the All-Star game. For the city of brotherly love, 1996 was the last time they hosted the All-Star Game before 2026. The Phillies had the most All-Star selections with six, but starting pitcher Zach Wheeler was notably absent. Here, Harper supports one of the bullpen aces.
Bryce Harper said “He continues to just get better and better. And, if there’s a guy on the mound that I need in the postseason, that’s him. You know, just numbers speak for themselves. So, yeah, I mean, obviously, I think he should be here, and he should have had the opportunity to be here first pick.”

“Happy for him that he’s starting in front of his home field tonight. Tomorrow night. But yeah, that is not a fun at bat when we don’t draw him in a three game series. I’m okay with that”
The dusk will settle, and the sun will rise again, and soon all the cheers and celebrations will be gone. The seriousness of the remaining part of the season will become evident.
Cody Bellinger of the Yankees, who have the 2nd. best record in the American League, talks about wide open the league is currently. “A lot of ups, a lot of downs as a normal baseball season is. And, you know, we’re a little over halfway, so enjoy this little event and get back to ourselves and look at the division and bring it home.”
The Washington Nationals are not out of the hunt yet, overdelivering in a lot of ways for fans in the nation’s capital.
Foster Griffin, the Nationals pitcher, replaced Braxton Ashcraft, and he said these next few weeks will be pivotal for the Nats. “I think we’re right there. I think we got the pieces to be able to make a run for it. Right. So I think the next few weeks will be very pivotal for us. And if we go on a little run here, I think we’ll be in a good spot.”
