Accomack Sheriff’s Office Investigating Shooting in Onancock

ONANCOCK, Va. – The Accomack County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) is investigating a shooting that injured one in Onancock last week.

On Jul. 8, at approximately 7:41 p.m., an officer with the Onancock Police Department notified ACSO of a shooting that occurred at the intersection of Spady Lane and Boundary Avenue within town limits. While enroute to the scene, deputies were advised that a single gunshot victim had arrived at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Upon arriving at the scene, deputies observed multiple cartridge casings in the roadway, before reviewing CCTV footage and interviewing multiple witnesses. Based on the evidence and witness statements collected, investigators determined that two masked individuals approached the area on foot and began firing in the direction of an occupied black Ford Crown Victoria, ultimately striking a 27-year-old female occupant from Painter. She was treated for her injuries and released from the hospital later that night.
