Cummings Makes History As CR Advances In States

The Caesar Rodney girls lacrosse team advanced to DIAA State Semifinals on Thursday with their commanding 8-0 win over Dover. The Riders got three goals from senior star Aleya Cummings, which puts her at 51 on the year, breaking Delawares all-time single season record.
It didn’t take very long for the Riders to find their comfort zone, as Lynsy Gruwell would find the back of the net less than 7 minutes into the game. Jesse Prillaman then doubled their lead just over a minutes later as the Riders were controlling the midfield, and had the Senators on their heels.
That’s when Aleya took over.
The senior headed to Wesley next year scored three straight goals in a 20 minute span as she eclipsed the 50 goal mark to break the state record, and help her team to a 5-0 lead.
The big day scoring for the Riders wasn’t done just yet, as Prillaman was able to find the back of the net 2 more times herself on her way to also netting a hat trick. The Senators continued to battle, and were able to gain a little more ball control in the second half, but were never able to get on the board.
Caesar Rodney advances now to the state semifinals where they will face Middletown on Wednesday.
