Worcester County Billed $400,000 for Private Pre-K
SNOW HILL, Md. – Worcester County received a $400,000 bill for private pre-k costs, surprising the counties commissioners.
The invoice comes from costs due to the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future Act, which includes funding for public and pre-k partnerships.
Although the bill was expected, the exact cost still surprised county commissioners such as Eric Fiori.
“Well we had a placeholder in for it in the budget, but we were unaware of exactly who qualified, how many qualified.” Said Fiori. “So we saw the bill for over 400,000 that the state had already paid out. We had quite a few questions about checks and balances and how the process is occurring.”
The commissioners will meet with experts from the county along with the board of education to better understand the exact breakdown of the fees according to Fiori.
