Verizon strike coming to an end

On Friday a deal was struck between Verizon and it’s workers who have been on strike for 45 days. The company and its unions have reached an agreement for a 4 year contract. While an agreement has been met, 47ABC is told this does not necessarily mean it is fully over, as the members still have to vote to accept the deal.
However they are expected to accept, and may be back at work within a week. 47ABC spoke with Jim Cutter, the President of local CWA 2106, who recognized the sacrifice the workers made. “It’s 7 weeks without a paycheck. That’s a big sacrifice, to keep the benefits we have and to keep jobs here in the US, and prevent them from going overseas.” Cutter says. He also thanked the community for all of the support they have received while picketing. The workers are expected to vote in the coming weeks, but plan to go back to work before a vote is held.
