More than $6 million secured for Easton Airport runway

Salisbury, Md. – Easton Airport is one step closer to constructing a new runway after securing roughly $6.7 million in federal grants.
Rep. Andy Harris helped secure the grants from the Federal Aviation Administration. Airport officials say that three grants will help modernize the airport and construct a new runway with updated safety features.
“I feel like we’ve been running a marathon and we’re kind of at the finish,” Easton Airport Manager Micah Risher said.
Risher said the project has been in the works for 20 years, and the majority of the community understands that it is to modernize and update its safety features without expanding the airport or bringing in more airlines.
“This is really about making the airfield safe and modern,” he said.
Risher said they hope to begin construction this fall and finish by the end of next year.
Harris has also helped secure FAA grants of over $1.7 million for the Salisbury Regional Airport and over $5.3 million for the Ocean City Municipal Airport.
