DELMARVA – After launching their Mobile Mammography unit last October, TidalHealth says its ready to hit the road to provide breast cancer screenings to Delmarva.

The health organization says TidalHealth Mobile Mammography represents a new model for delivering preventive healthcare directly into neighborhoods. Not everyone is able to access traditional screening locations because of transportation, scheduling, insurance, work, caregiving responsibilities, or other barriers to care. The unit is designed to complement existing screening services by bringing preventative breast care closer to the people who may otherwise go unscreened.

“Timely access to high-quality preventive care is essential to improving the health of our community,” said Kathryn Fiddler, DNP, MBA, Vice President of Population Health at TidalHealth. “By bringing mammography services closer to where people live, work and gather, we are helping more people take an important step in detecting breast cancer early.”

Fundraising for Mobile Mammography

Funding for TidalHealth Mobile Mammography began in Oct. 2023, and fundraising efforts were eventually reached in Sept. 2025. The project was supported by a $645,000 Maryland Community Health Resources Commission grant alongside generous donations made to the TidalHealth Foundation’s Drive to fully fund the $1 million initiative. TidalHealth says the collaboratuion between organizations and community members demonstrates a shared commitment to expanding access to lifesaving breast cancer screenings throughout the region.

“The success of this campaign is a powerful reflection of what our community can accomplish together,” said Jessica Hales, CFRE, vice president, chief philanthropy officer and president of the TidalHealth Foundation. “Because of the generosity of our donors, we are able to bring critical screening services directly to our neighbors, helping to remove barriers and save lives through early detection.”

Where will TidalHealth Mobile Mammography be?

The mobile mammography unit will provide screening mammograms at community locations throughout the region, including employer sites, community events, health fairs, TidalHealth locations, partner organizations and areas where access to preventative screening may be limited.

The unit plans to make its first stop at Women Supporting Women in Salisbury on Wednesday, Jul. 22, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Patients must meet screening mammography guidelines and may need an appointment. They should bring their insurance card, photo identification and the name of their primary care practitioner or ordering practitioner, if applicable.
