Drugs, firearms reportedly found during a Laurel traffic stop

Members of the Laurel Police Department say they arrested Orville Nichols, 23, of Salisbury, following a traffic stop on Sunday.
According to Laurel PD, Nichols was stopped for suspicion of using his cell phone while driving. During the stop, the officer reportedly discovered drug paraphernalia in the center console of the vehicle.
Police say Nichols advised the officers of a handgun in the vehicle during the stop. Investigators reportedly discovered Nichols was prohibited from carrying a firearm due to a past felony conviction in Maryland.
