UPDATE: 7 more arrested in drug trafficking investigation; 25 arrests total

UPDATE: Maryland State Police say seven more suspects have been arrested in connection to an investigation into a large-scale drug distribution operation spanning four Maryland counties and one Delaware county.

On Friday law enforcement served indictments on the additional suspects, who are each charged with conspiracy to distribute cocaine, among other felony charges.

With the additional arrests, the number of suspects charged in this investigation has risen to 25, officials said.

Maryland State Police released a list of the seven arrested Friday:

Original Post: Twenty-two search warrants executed Thursday morning led to the arrests of 18 people for their alleged involvement in in a large scale opioid distribution that spanned through the region, Maryland State Police said.

Investigators say last fall, they learned about a large scale drug trafficking operation in Queen Anne's County. Paul Roberts, 46, of Worton, is accused of distributing large amounts of opioids, crack cocaine and powdered cocaine.

Roma Scott, 52, also of Worton, was also reportedly found to be selling cocaine and opioid pills for more than a decade, police said.

Scott and Roberts were reportedly using cover businesses to sell the drugs, one with a lawn care business and the other with a party planning company, according to investigators. The alleged suppliers of narcotics to Scott and Roberts were also arrested.

As a result of the investigation, police say they found $130,000 worth of drugs, including 4,000 Oxycodone pills, 3.6 pounds of cocaine and a mix of more than 1,000 suboxone, methadone and Percoset pills.

In addition to illegal drugs, authorities also seized 14 firearms, 15 vehicles and more than $98,000 in currency.

Multiple agencies from around the region assisted the Maryland State Police Heroin Investigative Unit in this investigation.
