City of Cambridge Proposes New Speed Cameras

CAMBRIDGE, Md – The City of Cambridge has proposed new speed cameras in collaboration with the police department.

Captain Shane Hinson of the Cambridge Police Department explained the cameras would benefit the safety of local neighborhoods and schools.

“One of the most frequent complaints we get here in Cambridge are, speeding complaints, aggressive and negligent driving in our residential areas and school zones within the city” Hinson said.

The cameras are expected to help crackdown on these issues, without increasing the call volume of the police force.

“We’re hoping these cameras will be sort of a more force multiplier, if you will, to specifically address this complaint.” Said Hinson.

The cameras are not yet in place, and are still in consideration.
