Cargo ship captain rescued in Ocean City

OCEAN CITY, Md. – A cargo ship captain was rescued off of a vessel near the coast on Tuesday after he reportedly began experiencing symptoms of a heart attack.

According to the U.S. Coast Guard, crew members contacted the Delaware Bay command center at about 10:20 a.m. to tell them that the 61-year-old captain was showing signs of a possible heart attack. The ship was roughly 25 miles off the coast at the time of the incident, and an aircrew from Atlantic City, New Jersey was dispatched to help the man as the ship was headed to the Delaware Bay area.

The captain was then taken to a hospital by helicopter for treatment.
