Teachers Who Makes A Difference: A Teacher Who Makes A Classroom Feel Like Home
FRUITLAND, Md. — With the school year wrapping up, WMDT surprised another teacher who is making the classroom feel like home in the latest edition of “Teachers Who Make a Difference,” sponsored by Pam Price.
“Over these past few months, she’s been nothing less than an idol in my son’s eyes. He absolutely loves going to school each day and comes home telling us all of the wonderful things Mrs. Eskridge taught the class. She’s truly made a difference in his life and those in his class,” the nomination said.
With the school year ending in just a few days, one teacher was not enough to highlight.
“After this wonderful surprise, having this reward and this recognition has been a blessing, and it feels great to be recognized. That’s one of the main things. It feels really great,” said Casey Eskridge.
One reason Eskridge was nominated is her ability to make each of her young students feel seen.
“I make sure every child feels loved in the classroom. My goal at the beginning of the school year is to quickly build those relationships and make those connections with these children because the only way they’ll respect you is if they receive that respect in return,” Eskridge said.
It’s a skill she has honed over seven years, but with this being her first year teaching kindergarten, the recognition feels especially sweet.
“It’s definitely a challenge. It’s taken me years of experience, but as long as you’re passionate about it and have love for these children, it comes naturally,” Eskridge said.
Congratulations to Mrs. Eskridge and to all the teachers out there. Enjoy the summer!
