Dorchester Sheriff Investigating Police Impersonation Incident

DORCHESTER COUNTY, Md. – The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) is investigating a suspected police impersonation incident that occurred Tuesday night.
Shortly before midnight on Jun. 9, deputies received a report of an individual allegedly impersonating a law enforcement officer during a traffic stop in Dorchester County. According to the caller, they were stopped by a tan Chevrolet Suburban displaying red and blue emergency lights. During the stop, the driver of the Chevrolet identified himself as a Cambridge Police officer, but displayed no badge or official identification. When questioned about his credentials, the suspect returned to his vehicle and produced a law enforcement patch belonging to another police department. As the complainant began making a phone call to 911, the suspect instructed them to continue driving and left the area.
The alleged impersonator was described as a Hispanic male, approximately five feet and eight inches tall, wearing a ball cap and a dark-colored shirt. Deputies located and recovered the unoccupied vehicle (pictured) involved in this incident a short time later.
DCSO is asking anyone who may have experienced a similar encounter, observed this vehicle, recognizes the individual described above, or has information that could assist investigators to contact Cpl. Parker (#0230) at 410-228-4141 or via email at mjparker@docosheriff.org.
