Cambridge Police Dept. Warns of Increased Car Break-Ins

 

(CAMBRIDGE, Md) – The Cambridge Police Department warning residents to beware of a crime on the rise.

The department has noticed an increase in car break-ins on the East side of Cambridge over the last few weeks.
Police Chief Justin Todd says they’ve been seeing this increase in the beginning of the summer for the past few years.

Adding that the department is taking the spike in break-ins seriously, and that they’re working with community members to crack down on it.

Chief Todd tells WMDT, “We do everything, our technology wise, when we see trends happening, we try to deploy the officers in those certain areas, to do extra patrols, be more vigilant, and be able to keep a better eye out, to try and keep those crimes down.”

Chief Todd encourages people not to leave valuables in their cars and to park in well lit areas.
