MILFORD, Del. – The Milford Police Department has arrested a Milton man on felony drug and gun charges after they say he committed two separate theft incidents.

Police have arrested 35-year-old David L. Harmon on charges of possessing a firearm during the commission of a felony, possessing a tier three quantity of a controlled substance, receiving a stolen firearm, and related charges. He was arraigned and committed to the Department of Correction in lieu of $199,400 secured bail. Harmon was also issued no contact orders with the victims and businesses in this case.

At 11:03 a.m. on May 27, officers were dispatched to the Shell Station in the unit block of South DuPont Boulevard for a reported theft. The victim reported that a Black male wearing a mask attempted to steal merchandise before fleeing southbound in a blue vehicle with the registration plate covered.

Shortly after, at 11:10 a.m., officers responded to a second theft at the Dollar Tree in the 28000 block of Lexus Drive. The victim and witnesses provided the same suspect and vehicle description. This time, the suspect reportedly fled northbound on South DuPont Boulevard. Officers searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle. In both incidents, police say no force was used or implied.

Through investigative efforts, detectives identified Harmon as the suspect. An arrest warrant was obtained before detectives responded to his residence, where he was taken into custody without incident. Police say Harmon was wearing the same clothing observed during the earlier incidents.

During the arrest, detectives located suspected powder cocaine and heroin on Harmon. A search warrant was executed at his residence, resulting in the seizure of the following items:
  • Smith & Wesson 9mm handgun
  • 49.3 grams of suspected crack cocaine
  • Prescription medication
  • Drug paraphernalia

Police confirmed the handgun to be stolen, and Harmon was determined to be prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition.
