Local students compete in UMES Spelling Bee

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – Students from across the shore got to test out their spelling skills on Saturday.

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore held their annual spelling bee for each Wicomico County Public School with students in grades four through eight, to compete with other lower shore spellers.

A total of 24 students competed, and 8th grader Hannah McCabe from Holly Grove Christian School walked away as the 2020 Maryland Eastern Shore Regional Spelling Bee champion. She will represent the lower shore at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. in May.
