Smyrna Police Officers Complete Bicycle Unit Training With Dewey Beach Police

SMYRNA, Del. — Officers with the Smyrna Police Department recently completed bicycle unit training in partnership with the Dewey Beach Police Department, officials announced.
The training focused on strengthening officers’ bicycle patrol skills and enhancing community policing and public safety efforts. Smyrna police thanked Dewey Beach officers for their support, instruction and partnership throughout the program.
In a statement shared by the department, officials said the collaboration provided an opportunity for officers to continue building skills that help keep communities safe.
Photos released by the department showed officers from both agencies participating in the training sessions alongside police vehicles and bicycles at multiple locations.
Bicycle units are commonly used by law enforcement agencies for community engagement, patrols in crowded areas, special events and rapid response in areas less accessible to traditional patrol vehicles.
