EASTON, Md. – A family of six has been displaced after an attic fire caused extensive damage to a home on Thursday morning.

At 10:41 a.m. on May 21, crews with the Easton Volunteer Fire Department and other local companies responded to a two-story home in the 29000 block of Hawkes Hill Road after the owner observed smoke and fire when he returned home. Twenty-five firefighters worked for nearly two hours to extinguish the flames.

The total damage to the house and its contents is estimated to be valued at $400,000. No injuries were reported in connection with this fire.

The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal responded to scene, and determined the preliminary cause of the fire to be an electrical failure within the attic.
