Salisbury Parking Garage to Temporarily Close for Repairs

Salisbury Parking Garage

SALISBURY, Md. – The City of Salisbury has announced that the downtown parking garage will be temporarily closed from Jun. 1 through Jun. 15 to allow for necessary structural repairs and improvements.

During the closure, transient and permit parkers are encouraged to utilize Lots One, 10, 12, or 15, or on-street parking in the downtown area during the closure period. Signage will be posted to help direct drivers to nearby available parking. Further, to assist residents and visitors during the garage closure, the City says they will provide relaxed enforcement of on-street parking regulations, with enforcement limited to significant violations only, such as parking against the flow of traffic or double parking.

During this time, the City says the following repairs and improvements will be completed:
  • Repairing of garage corbels
  • Repainting of the garage stairwell, including the addition of a clear numbering system
  • Installing additional payment signage on all interior levels, ramps, and common areas
  • Full power washing of all interior levels, ramps, and common areas
  • Routine cleaning and debris removal
  • Complete light landscaping at garage entrances/exits and surrounding perimeter areas
  • Inspection and repair all doors and windows
  • Address any outstanding standpipe inspections, testing, or maintenance needs
  • Completion of any pending elevator inspections and ensure compliance with safety standards
  • Replacement of worn or damaged flooring tiles within the elevator cab and entry areas

“While closure of the parking garage is never convenient, as you can see, the City has timed a host of repairs for this closure in order to limit disruptions,” Mayor Randy Taylor said in a statement. “We appreciate your patience as we strive to keep the garage properly maintained.”
