(CAMBRIDGE, Md) – Cambridge is gearing up for a pair of major events for Memorial Day Weekend; the return of a classic, and the start of a new festival.

The Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce is preparing for the 115th annual Powerboat Regatta on the waters of the Choptank River this Saturday.

they’re also hosting the first Triple B Festival. That’s Blue Catfish, Boats and Brews.

Outgoing Dorchester Chamber President, Bill Christopher says they’ve been looking to expand the powerboat regatta in order to bring more people to Cambridge, just in time for the start of summer.

Bill tells WMDT, “We think it’s like I say, a great kickoff of the weekend. Great family event to come down to. And enjoy. Again, bow racing and live music and a whole bunch of other stuff down the park. And just hanging out in the in the park is is fun itself.”

Bill goes on to say they’re hoping for a larger turnout with the addition of the Triple B festival at Gerry Boyle Park.

With the attendance of the powerboat regatta being around a couple of thousand, they’re hoping for more than double the attendance, under the right circumstances.

He says, “We think it’s like I say, a great kickoff of the weekend. Great family event to come down to. And enjoy. Again, boat racing and live music and a whole bunch of other stuff down the park. And just hanging out in the in the park is is fun itself.”

The Triple B Festival will run all day Saturday, with the Powerboat Regatta running both Saturday and Sunday.
