No Injuries Reported After Fire Destroys Millsboro Home
MILLSBORO, Del. – Multiple Sussex County fire departments responded to a heavily-involved house fire in the early hours of Sunday morning.
At 3:45 a.m. on May 17, crews with the Indian River, Lewes, and Millsboro volunteer fire companies were alerted to a residential structure fire on River Breeze Drive in the River Breeze development. It was initially reported to be a working incident with fire on the deck extending into the residence.
Upon arrival on the scene, firefighters identified propane tanks located next to the blaze. Crews deployed multiple fire suppression lines for both interior and exterior operations. Utility providers also responded to the scene to shut off water and electric at the property. The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.
The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company says it appears that the fire originated near the rear of the structure, causing significant damage throughout most of the home. All family members and canine occupants were accounted for, and no injuries were reported.
The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
