MD Public Works Grants $100K for New Wicomico Bookmobile
WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – The Maryland Board of Public Works has approved a $100,000 grant to support the purchase of a new library bookmobile for Wicomico County.
The County Executive’s Office shared the news on Wednesday afternoon, saying the grant marks a significant investment in expanding access to educational resources across the community.
“This is a tremendous win for Wicomico County,” said County Executive Julie Giordano. “A new bookmobile means greater access to books, technology, and educational programming for residents who may not otherwise be able to visit a physical library branch. We are grateful to the Board of Public Works for recognizing the importance of this investment in our community.”
The new bookmobile will serve as a mobile extension of the county’s library system, offering books, digital resources, and community programming while helping bridge gaps in access to information and services. It will also support outreach efforts to schools, senior communities, and neighborhoods throughout the county.
This grant reflects the State’s continued commitment to supporting local infrastructure and educational initiatives that improve quality of life and opportunity for Maryland residents. Funding will be administered through the Department of General Services.
The County Executive’s Office says more details on the timeline for procurement and deployment of the new bookmobile will be announced in the coming months.
