Two Arrested on Drug Charges after Laurel Traffic Stop
LAUREL, Del. – The Delaware State Police arrested two individuals on drug charges following a traffic stop in the early hours of Friday morning.
Police have arrested 38-year-old Nicole Kenton of Harrington, and a 36-year-old man from Selbyville. Kenton was charged with possessing with intent to deliver a controlled substance, five counts of possessing drug paraphernalia, and related drug crimes. She has since been arraigned and released on a $8,000 unsecured bond. The Selbyville man was released after being issued a summons for driving under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia, and related traffic offenses.
On May 1, around 2:00 a.m., a trooper patrolling Fire Tower Road conducted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Cruze after observing a moving violation. The trooper contacted the occupants and identified the driver as the Selbyville man, and the passenger as Kenton. During the interaction, the trooper observed drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the vehicle.
A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of additional drug paraphernalia belonging to both occupants. Troopers also recovered 48 bags of suspected heroin and 0.85 grams of suspected cocaine, which were determined to be in Kenton’s possession. The driver showed signs of impairment, and both were taken into custody without further incident.
