(CAMBRIDGE, Md) – A Dorchester County group is celebrating a building being torn down and replaced by something new.

Members of the Groove City Culture Group celebrated the start of the demolition of this old convenience store on Phillips Street in Cambridge this morning.

In the place of the abandoned property, Groove City will begin work on building a new, proper location for the group.

Groove City Director, Veronica Taylor tells those in attendance the proposed new center will be a hub for artists and musicians with Groove City.

She tells those in attendance, “When people come into Cambridge, that they will come to this Groove City cultural art center and museum and be educated and learn about the history of this community and create a gateway into tourism and a destination for Cambridge.”

Taylor says construction on the new facility is expected to begin around late fall.
