Mid-Atlantic Open in Dover this weekend
DOVER Del. – Major League Paintball is continuing its National Xball League series with the Mid-Atlantic Open in Dover, Delaware this weekend.
Major League Paintball President, Tom Cole, explaining what the competition means. “We run 5 events a year in the United States, this is the 2nd of our legs, culminating with the World Cup, which is in Kissimmee, Florida, every year. This is our east coast; we call it the Mid-Atlantic Open, and we probably have 300 teams, probably 3 to 5,000 people playing.”
Top competitors from around the world are competing in the first state. It appears that many athletes are getting along well. Tom Cole, the president of Major League Paintball, states that a switch is flipped once the games begin.
Currently in the Pro X-Ball Prelims, Red Legion is leading with 10 points and 2 wins. They are tied with the San-Antonia X-Factor, but are losing by avg margin of victory.
In the pro 3v3 finals, the Edmonton Impact are currently leading with 3-2 record.

Tom Cole said that while things are friendly outside of competition, they get aggressive with the lights are on.”Extremely competitive when we get on the field, so a lot of those high-fives go away.”
One of those teams, Brimstone Smoke, and one of its members, Will Messer, has been playing on the paintball circuit for years –
he says so many of his teammates come from across the world
“We come from all over the world, so we got guys from all over the world, we got guys from our team that play you know France and all these other ones, then you get guys flying over from all over, our team is from like 9 different states here right now.”
And for Messer, the best thing about the sport is how ageless it truly is
“Our average age is like 38 years old, and that’s because we got a couple younger guys bringing that number down.”
