Greensboro Housefire Displaces Two; MD Fire Marshals Investigating

GREENSBORO, Md. – The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal is investigating a house fire that displaced two adults on Saturday afternoon.

At 3:15 p.m. on Apr. 25, a total of 35 firefighters from the Greensboro, Goldsboro, Ridgely, Denton, and Queen Anne’s-Hillsboro Volunteer Fire Companies responded to a one-story house on Bernard Avenue after residents reported a fire. Crews worked for 20 minutes to extinguish the blaze, and conducted other operations on site for over an hour. No injuries were reported.

The Greensboro Volunteer Fire Company says that due to wind conditions, the fire rapidly spread throughout the structure. The total damage to the house and its contents is estimated to be valued at $200,000. The displaced family is being assisted by the American Red Cross.

Fire marshals determined the fire originated on the back porch, but the preliminary cause remains under investigation.

Caroline Emergency Medical Services, Town of Greensboro Utilities, and Delmarva Power also responded to the scene.
