Salisbury University named Higher Education Partner of Baltimore Orioles
SALISBURY, Md. – The Baltimore Orioles announced a new partnership with Salisbury University (SU) on Friday, designating the Eastern Shore institution as the official Higher Education Partner of the Major League Baseball team.
Through the partnership, the Orioles and SU will host a series of unique student engagement opportunities, designed to bridge the classroom and the sports industry. Salisbury students will have the opportunity to engage with Orioles front office staff, learning the business of baseball and receiving hands-on experience in human resources, finance, and other career fields. SU will also bring the Orioles directly to the classroom as students complete real-world capstone projects and present their ideas to Orioles team leadership.
“This partnership with the Baltimore Orioles brings together two influential institutions — one in higher education and one in professional sports — united by a shared commitment to Maryland’s people, communities, and economic vitality,” said Dr. Carolyn Lepre, Salisbury University President. “As Salisbury University celebrates its centennial and the Orioles mark 35 seasons at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, this collaboration arrives at a meaningful moment for both organizations.”
The Orioles will host SU Night at Oriole Park on Friday, Sept. 4. Fans who purchase the special ticket package for the evening will receive a Salisbury-Orioles co-branded t-shirt. SU students and representatives will be invited to participate in several pre- and in-game ceremonies, including the ceremonial first pitch and the national anthem. There will also be an appearance by the Salisbury University Marching Band and mascot Sammy Sea Gull.
Tickets to Salisbury University Night will go on sale at a later date.
