Housefire in Caroline Co. Displaces Family; Marshals Investigating
PRESTON, Md. – The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal is investigating a housefire that displaced a family on Tuesday.
At 4:58 p.m. on Apr. 22, crews with the Preston Volunteer Fire Company responded to a one-story home on Birch Drive after an occupant reported a fire. A total of 39 firefighters worked for an hour and 12 minutes to extinguish the blaze. While smoke alarms were present in the home at the time of the fire, they were not operational.
The total damage to the house and its contents is estimated to be valued at $200,000.
Fire marshals determined that the fire originated on the exterior of the home, but a preliminary cause remains under investigation. Anyone with any additional information, is asked to contact the Upper Eastern Regional Office at 410-819-3500.
