NASCAR fans prep for race weekend

It’s that time of year again where folks will be heading out to the Dover Speedway this weekend for a major NASCAR race. Although skies have looking a little gray, race goers are not letting this affect their plans.

On Wednesday morning, Richard Jones and his wife Loretta drove in from  Pennsylvania. They tell 47 ABC they’ve been coming up to the races for 25 years because they love meeting up with their friends.

“We don’t get a chance to see them, we’re so far away so this is our chance to visit with them,” says Loretta Jones.

In their years of camping out they tell us they’ve toughed it out through storms. Gary Camp, the communication specialist for the speedway, tells us they’re staff is keeping an eye out on the weather.

“We’ve seen these things where the weather forecast looks a little dicey  and then it just blows through. We’re monitoring everything very closely. We have a meteorologist on our staff that will be here soon that will be keeping us posted on what’s coming through,” says Camp.

If you do plan on camping out this weekend for the race, here are a few tips from the Jones’ on how to prep.

“I have generator in the back of my truck that I can run my TV, microwave and everything of off. bring rain gear, bring  enough food and water,” says the Jones’.
