Laurel vs Odessa Softball Game Recap
LAUREL, Del. – Softball action in the First State, the Ducks making the trek south. We start in top of the 3rd inning, sophomore Saniyah Norman ripping it to right field for the RBI triple.
Odessa leading 6-0 at this point. coming in swinging for the fences and dominating the early stages of the game.
But a pivotal moment here is wild pitch by the Laurel pitcher, and Norman attempts to steal home base, but can’t make it in time. Laurel gets a break, and they finally have some life.
Another wild pitch this time by the Odessa pitcher, and finally the Bulldogs get on the board, and they make it a game, 6-1. A couple at-bats later, Camryn Patterson dings one to left field. She gets 2 runners home on the RBI double.
Eventually, we find ourselves in the 5th inning, and it’s a 7-3 ballgame. Odessa still under control, look at this play by Laurel Satisha Louis, who gets the diving catch, and the Bulldogs amped up to make the comeback.
Next inning, Haylie Collick zips one down the third base line and gets another run home for the Bulldogs. Laurel adds another run, 7-5, but in the end, Odessa’s lead was too much to handle, the Ducks win 7 to 5 in a close game.
