Fire damages multiple structures in Millsboro
MILLSBORO, Del. — Firefighters responded to a trailer fire Saturday morning in the Long Neck area that spread to multiple structures, authorities said.
The fire was reported around 11:19 a.m. in the 26000 block of School Lane after neighbors reported hearing a loud boom and seeing flames coming from the property. Initial reports indicated the structures may have been abandoned, though occupancy was not immediately confirmed.
Fire companies from Indian River, Lewes and Millsboro responded to the scene, along with additional mutual aid from surrounding departments and emergency medical services.
Crews arriving on scene found heavy fire involving a manufactured home, with flames extending to nearby structures and debris. Firefighters conducted an initial assessment and deployed hose lines while establishing a water supply from a nearby hydrant at Bay Farm Road and School Lane.
Multiple structures were affected, including two manufactured homes, a detached garage, a shed and several trailers. Crews also worked to protect nearby exposures and manage hazards, including propane tanks that were fueling the fire.
School Lane was closed to traffic during the response, and fire police assisted with traffic control and securing the area.
No firefighter injuries were reported.
The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
