Body Recovered from Williams Pond in Seaford
SEAFORD, Del. – The Seaford Police Department is currently investigating the recovery of an unidentified body from Williams Pond.
At 11:16 a.m. on on Wednesday, Apr. 15, police responded to the area after kayakers located what appeared to be a body in the water. DNREC officers, emergency medical services and fire personnel also responded to the scene and confirmed the presence of a deceased individual.
The individual has not yet been identified, and no further details are being released at this time. The body has been turned over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science for examination to determine the cause and manner of death.
Due to the proximity of the pond to Frederick Douglass Elementary, authorities say steps were taken to ensure that the scene and investigation were not visible to any children.
At this time, police say there is no known threat to the public.
