Shed Fire Spreads, Displacing Five in Cambridge

CAMBRIDGE, Md. – The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal is investigating a shed fire that destroyed a home and subsequently displaced five on Sunday evening.

At 5:44 p.m. on Apr. 13, crews with the Rescue Fire Company and other local fire departments responded to a residence in the 800 block of Allen Street after a neighbor reported a fire. The fire reportedly originated in the shed before spreading to the rest of the dwelling. A total of 35 firefighters battled the blaze for 45 minutes before extinguishing it.

The total damage to the house and its contents is estimated to be valued at $100,000. The impacted family is being assisted by the American Red Cross.
