Federalsburg shed fire spreads to camper; no injuries reported
FEDERALSBURG, Md. — A Friday evening shed fire in Caroline County spread to multiple outbuildings and a camper before firefighters brought the blaze under control, according to local fire officials.
The incident was reported at approximately 5:21 p.m. on April 10 in the 6300 block of Noble Road, prompting a response from the Federalsburg Volunteer Fire Company along with several mutual-aid departments.
Chief 1 arrived on scene to find several outbuildings fully involved with fire extending to a nearby camper. Incident Command was established by Chief S. Cox (Unit 115).
Crews from Engine 104 initiated fire suppression operations, deploying attack hoselines to both the front and rear of the structures. Additional assistance arrived from the Denton Volunteer Fire Company, whose Engine 302 also deployed an attack line alongside Engine 104.
As additional mutual-aid units arrived, command assigned resources to assist with extinguishment and overhaul operations until the fire was brought under control.
The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office was requested to investigate the cause of the fire, which remains undetermined as of this report.
No injuries were reported. Fire crews operated on scene for approximately two hours before returning to service.
Mutual-aid assistance was provided by the Preston Volunteer Fire Company, Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Company, Greenwood Volunteer Fire Company, and the Caroline County Department of Emergency Services.
Officials also thanked the Hurlock Volunteer Fire Company for providing station coverage during the incident.
The fire remains under investigation.
