Delmar Clinches South Title With Convincing Win At Milford

The Delmar field hockey team clinched the Henlopen South Title Tuesday afternoon when they traveled to Milford for a heavy weight showdown of a pair of undefeated teams and earned a 4-1 win. The win improves the Wildcats to 11-0, while the loss drops the Buccaneers to 9-1.
Delmar would come out on a mission early on, getting a score from Logan Walls just under 4 minutes into the match. The ‘Cats weren’t done just yet, as just 4 minutes later Walls would find the back of the cage again to double the lead. Delmar continued to control the possession from there as Peyton Kemp would score off a loose ball in the box, before adding another on a break away to give the Wildcats a 4-0 lead at the break. Milford would come out with a sense of urgency in the second half. After being able to draw a couple corner, the Bucs would finally be able to find the back of the cage after Katelyn Melvin would be able to send in a rebound in front of the cage. The Bucs would be able to send a couple more shots on goal in the games final minutes, but Wildcats keeper Madison Blewitt would be able to send each of them off as Delmar would hold on for the win.
Delmar returns to action on Saturday when they travel to play Cape Henlopen, while Milford travels to Sussex Central on Thursday.
