Tons of fanfare for Delmarva Shorebirds Opening Day

SALISBURY, Md. – The community showed up for the Delmarva Shorebirds on their opening day, expressing unity. The Ross Family said its about the atmosphere that keeps them coming for seconds.

“What I like about it that you can walk around the outfield and you take your family and check it out from different angles. It’s always a good time. I love it when we come here once a summer, and this is the best day of the year.”

Shorebird fans wait in line, excited for opening day, enjoying the festivities and community it brings. Local resident Fay calls its an experience you cannot miss.

“It’s a sign of spring and opening day. We’ve been excited for the last few weeks. I got my tickets 2 or 3 weeks ago just to make sure I had them.”

Many fans love seeing the prospects working hard to improve their skills. Delegate Chris Adams says watching them developed is one of the reasons he attends ballgames.

“We see these young players, and these are the players we’ll see in the major leagues for a few years, so watching the talent come through these young guys for themselves, it’s always exciting.”

The Delmarva Shorebirds will continue their home opening series vs the Augusta Greejackets.
